Summer Game Fest 2026 just detonated across the FGC. Three major announcements in under 48 hours — Street Fighter 6 Year 4 with Tifa Lockhart, Virtua Fighter's first new game in 13 years, and 2XKO's Senna and Thresh arriving on June 9. This week's cards break it all down.

Card 1 — SF6 Year 4: Tifa Confirmed

Street Fighter 6 Year 4 landed at Summer Game Fest on June 5. Capcom and Square Enix confirmed Tifa Lockhart (Final Fantasy VII Remake) as the headlining guest character — completely rebuilt for SF6 with new Materia-based gameplay mechanics. Three original fighters round out the pass: Yasmine (August 3, 2026), Arjun (Autumn 2026), and Bosch — the second World Tour protagonist — coming in Spring 2027. Tifa follows in Early 2027.
Director Takayuki Nakayama confirmed that Tifa's design and moveset were built from scratch for SF6, and that one iconic Final Fantasy element has been reworked into a brand-new game system. No playable demo yet, but the hype is real.

Card 2 — Virtua Fighter is back

Virtua Fighter: Crossroads was officially announced at Summer Game Fest on June 5, 2026. Developed by SEGA and RGG Studio (the Yakuza/Like a Dragon team), the game launches in 2027 and is the first mainline VF title since Virtua Fighter 5 (2006 arcade). The trailer showed returning legends Akira, Jacky, and new faces, alongside a single-player campaign with non-fighter support characters and open-world exploration. RGG's involvement means the production values and story depth are already credible.

Card 3 — 2XKO: Senna & Thresh dropping June 9

Riot Games revealed two new champions for 2XKO this week: Senna and Thresh both drop on June 9, 2026, expanding the roster to 15 characters. Senna is a hybrid fighter who switches between long-range cannon attacks and ghost-form close combat. Thresh is a Strategist archetype — lantern teleport, chain hooks, and trapped-soul assists.
Both characters were confirmed EVO 2026 tournament legal by Riot directly, making them available for the 2XKO bracket at EVO Las Vegas this summer. 2XKO is currently the top-3 most entered game at EVO 2026.

Card 4 — Looking ahead

This week: Senna and Thresh hit 2XKO on June 9. Perfect time to lab them before EVO.
Summer calendar: Yasmine (SF6 Year 4) drops August 3. EVO 2026 is shaping up to be the biggest in years — SF6, 2XKO, and likely Virtua Fighter hype all converging in Las Vegas.
Watch: DBFZ post-SS4 Daima roadmap still unannounced. Any SF6 balance patch timing alongside Year 4 is worth monitoring.
